ABOVE ALL ELSE – BE KIND
Well, what a week! Never mind the farcical behaviour of politicians, I have seen some down-right diabolical behaviour from businesses this week and it’s really not acceptable! I am definitely not naming names but it’s a conversation I have had with several clients about the issues they are facing from businesses they thought worked closely with them and who supported them.
Why is it that there are businesses who forget to be kind? Who forget that they are dealing with people? People with feelings, with lives outside of work, with businesses that they are passionate about. There is no humanity in how they are behaving, and quite frankly, it’s not an acceptable way to do business.
So how should they be acting:
It’s an oldie but a goodie – treat others how you would like to be treated yourself. Be respectful and be polite.
Be firm and fair – sometimes in business there will be difficult conversations that need to be had, but it’s how you do it that matters.
Be considerate – you never know what others are dealing with outside of work, how you communicate might make a massive difference to their day.
Things go wrong, we are all human – apologise, fix it, ensure it doesn’t happen again but be polite about it. Losing the plot over it will never help.
Above all else, BE KIND. It shouldn’t be that difficult should it?
